    WHERE DO I VOTE

  • Montana law requires voters to present a current, valid form of identification when voting in person. Acceptable IDs include:

    • Montana driver's license or REAL ID

    • Montana state ID card

    • Tribal photo ID

    • Military ID

    • U.S. passport

    • Montana concealed carry permit

    • Montana university system or NAIA photo ID

    If you don't have one of these photo IDs, you can also present a photo ID along with a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or government document that includes your name and current address. If you arrive without acceptable ID, you may still be able to cast a provisional ballot.

  • Yes. Registered Montana voters may request an absentee (vote-by-mail) ballot.

    To be counted, your completed ballot must be received by the Lake County Elections Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. A postmark is not enough. If you're close to Election Day, it's recommended that you return your ballot in person rather than mailing it.

    One suggestion: since election laws and deadlines can change, I'd keep these answers fairly evergreen and add a button like "Visit the Lake County Elections Office" or "View Current Election Information" that links to the county's elections page. That way the FAQ stays accurate without needing frequent updates.
